Guest: Louise Mushikiwabo, secretary-general of La Francophonie.

The Cité Internationale de la Langue Française, inaugurated at Villers-Cotterêts on 30 October 2023 by the French president Emmanuel Macron, will be hosting the 19th Summit of La Francophonie in the autumn of 2024. The Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, united by the French language, brings together 88 countries and over 321 million French-speakers around the world. Its aim: to be a tool for multilateral, cultural, educational, economic and political cooperation. The OIF also watches over peace and security in the francophone space, issues increasingly threatened by armed conflict. How can La Francophonie be a voice for peace? What role should it play in reducing tensions?

Louise Mushikiwabo, secretary-general of the OIF since 2018, re-elected in 2022, discusses news from the Middle East, Africa and the Sahel, following the coups d'état, together with the recent clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Presented by: Françoise Joly (TV5MONDE), Élise Barthet ("Le Monde"). From Yaoundé (Cameroon).
